Watch Interview

Sarah Kelly was a successful applicant on the Next Big Thing and was awarded £1250 for her innovative and inspirational jewellery designs, which she markets under the brand name of Saloukee.

Saloukee's primary intention is to offer jewellery and fashion accessories made from sustainable, environmentally sound and aesthetically beautiful fibres. Sarah's designs incorporate ecologically friendly technologies through its core materials, Sasawashi, a wash resistant textile paper that embraces Japanese traditional paper-making techniques with high-tech modern developments.

Saloukee's existing designs for jewellery and the vast potential for expansion into accessory/product design are both inventive and innovative, due to incorporating the use of laser cutting advancements to create its designs. By using such a technology, Sarah's designs are able to be reproduced in high quantities with utmost precision, not to mention the endless possibilities to create intensely intricate and progressively complex designs.

Sarah says "The Next Big Thing has helped me immensely, I feel as though a lot of my questions have been answered and it's put me in contact with quite a few people, schemes and funding opportunities that I wasn't aware of before. I now have the right attitude and focus to move my business forward in a positive and sustainable way."
